2025 Abingdon Marathon Notice
We are writing to provide advance notice that the 41st edition of the Abingdon Marathon is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 19th October 2025.

The race start time is 09:00hrs. The route remains the same as the 2024 race – please refer to the Course Map. As usual, the appropriate signage and marshalling will be provided.
The time limit for runners to finish the marathon will be 6 hours – as it was last year. This is to make sure our marathon is as inclusive as possible; the capacity of the race remains capped at 1500. We anticipate around 1000 runners actually starting on the day.
We have obtained a Special Events Order (SEO) from Oxfordshire County Council. The SEO contains details of road closures. Traffic management services will be employed to manage the traffic at the start and finish of the race, Abingdon town centre and at other strategic locations identified on the course.
Runners are most likely to be passing through the following areas at the following times:
| Market Square and town centre, Abingdon | 09:20 – 10:00 and again 11:00 – 14:30 |
| Lambrick Way and Southern Town Park | 09:30 – 10:30, and again 11:30 to 14:00 |
| Drayton Village | 09:40 – 13:00 |
| Milton Village and Milton Park | 09:50 – 13:45 |
| Sutton Courtenay | 10:30 – 13:30 |
Please note that these times are very approximate – the runners will be much more spaced out on the second lap. Everyone is very welcome to come out and cheer on the competitors; the runners always really appreciate the support!
